Day 1 — Learn the Solid stack

Tuesday 14 July 2026 · Registration from 12:30 pm

  1. 12:30pm – 1:00pm

    Registration & demo play

    Try out MyPod and NotePod while you settle in.

    • Solid servers: pods.d01.solidcommunity.au (2, 3, 4)
  2. 1:00pm – 1:10pm

    Welcome (slides, recording)

  3. 1:10pm – 1:45pm

    Tutorial 1Solid Fundamentals (slides1, slides2, recording1, recording2)

    Prof. Graham Williams and Mr. Tony Chen, SII

    • Introduction to Pods and Solid servers
    • Create a Pod using MyPod
    • Install NotePod locally on your device
  4. 1:45pm – 2:30pm

    Tutorial 2Reading & Writing Pods (slides, recording)

    Dr. Dawei Chen, SII

    • Use NotePod to write a note, read a note, and share a note with other Pods
    • Exercise: share notes with those near you
    • Showcase of other apps ‐ FilePod, TodoPod, and more
  5. 2:30pm – 3:00pm

    Break

    Finish your installs and explore the other apps.

  6. 3:00pm – 4:00pm

    Tutorial 3Solid Flutter App Development (slides, recording)

    Dr. Anushka Vidanage, SII

    • Template app setup using solidui
    • Compile and run the template app
    • Add WRITE function to the template app
    • Set up Claude in VS Code
    • Use Claude to add READ function to the template app
  7. 4:00pm – 4:45pm

    Hacking begins

    Add features to your app with Claude and mentor support.

  8. 4:45pm – 5:00pm

    End of Day 1 — team check-in
